Take me out to the ballgame

Please?

My husband was fortunate enough to score some tickets for the Twins game on Friday night, but there were only enough for 3 people to go.  Miss Jane already had a sleep over scheduled, so that left four of us wanting 3 tickets.  I thought that rock, paper, scissors was the way to go, but then W reminded me that B couldn't stay home by himself.  Then I saw this commercial on TV showing a dad taking his boys fishing and some other sappy things and they called it "team building."  So I reluctantly handed over the tickets and pouted about it the rest of the week.

Apparently the BRAND NEW Target Field is an amazing place to play baseball.  And watch baseball.  They have fireworks that shoot out over the above pictured sign when they sing the national anthem, there is a homerun, or they win the game (all of which happened while they were there on Friday night).

It appears that they have every kind of food you could ever want.  L is always begging me to take him out to restaurants from different cultures as he is convinced that he loves Chinese, Thai, and Indian cuisine more than anything.  Therefore, I expected him to come home and tell me about how great the Gyro's were, or about the amazing Shrimp Pad Thai.  Instead, he was ranting and raving about the Hot Dogs.  Yes, you read it right.  Hot Dogs.  Apparently they are not just any hot dog.  They are super hot dogs, very big ("half dollar size").  And very delicious.  I guess it just proves that baseball and hot dogs really do go together.  Like peanut butter & jelly, and peas & carrots.  (Sorry about the peas and carrots...I just rewatched Forest Gump the other night).

For those of you that don't watch Twins games, one of the Twins announcers is Bert Blyleven, a former Twins pitcher.  He uses some type of pen (like John Madden does on football games) to circle certain fans in the crowd.  Years ago, people started making "Circle Me Bert" signs so that they would be seen on TV during the game.  The kids wanted to make signs, so we went to the store and got some tagboard.  My creative elder son came up with these ideas for the signs:

Only too bad for them, they didn't get circled.  Or rectangled.  Or triangled.  But I think they did some pretty good team building.

They are quite a team.
